Sounds funny that being a better parent often starts with being a bit selfish-- in a very non-selfish way. Make sure that you're building a life you're proud of and enjoying. That's the best recipe for then sharing that life with your kids.
Likewise, the best thing you can give kids, far more important than going to another soccer game or a buying some toy or another, is a strong relationship between their parents. Take the time to put your marriage first. If you're co-parenting, make the effort to keep things at least cordial and respectful!

becca said: Great point, Abigail! I totally agree. :) It's hard to remember that when you're busy running around as parents, but o-so-true. When you put kids first, often times you work too hard and stress yourself out, which may not be the best for the kids, ironically. |
