Rebecca: My son did this last year and had a blast. He came home the first day asking if he could do it again. He loves Lego and it was his first exposure to Minecraft and it was love at first sight. :) He's been loving Minecraft since and it's been months. The other class he took was Scratch Jr. and I didn't hear much about that. The teacher did tell me that he well with both and that on Scratch Jr. he preferred writing code to graphically putting blocks together. I'm a bit unsure what he learned after a week. They did have demonstration at the end of the week but I think another kid on his team did most of the work as he was already familiar with Minecraft. Also people came from all over to the camp, Gloucester to New Hampshire. I felt a little silly "commuting" from within Cambridge for the camp, and wondered if I overpaid for the Harvard prestige. Still, my kid did have a ton of fun, and is still a big fan of Minecraft. :) He might have just liked that more than Scratch.
Diane: My kids will be participating in this camp for the third year. We have found them to be efficiently organized, friendly, responsive and helpful. The kids have loved everything they have done there. This year they are doing digital fashion design (daughter) and media production (son). They would both do more if they could. The only down side to the program is the cost. It is not inexpensive. But it is very high quality and the kids love it.
